The panel behind four apps, which rebrands itself to whatever name is typed into it. The register, the enquiry diary, the timetable and the doubt queue, bound as one. It remembers who came, and who did not.

A novel of twenty-two chapters, in which to be watched is to become more oneself and to be forgotten is to come apart. Written in the hills, typeset for a printer not yet found. The first stone of a very long road.

Twenty-two chapters, 259 pages, in an illuminated edition you can read for free. In this world, a thing that is watched becomes more itself, and a thing nobody watches comes quietly apart. Its language, Vellkarn, will not let you name a thing without saying whether it is observed. This is the first stop on a much longer journey: a future game, and one day, we hope, a full-scale feature film.

The Dreamshard Cycle

Seven zones of the book, built as a place you can walk through.

The book made into a place one may walk: seven zones, raised by hand from Blender into Unreal. It stops where the money stopped, and says so plainly. The rest waits.

298 meshes authored by hand from 33 source assets and 82 texture files, modelled in Blender, assembled in Unreal Engine 5.8.1, on top of 21 design documents. The combat carries the book's law: what is watched grows stronger and cannot move, so looking at a thing is both how you hold it still and how you feed it. It is not finished. It stops where the money stopped, and I would rather write that here than have you find it out on a call.

Batcomputer Training Academy

A training platform I built and run myself, live on the web, with an Android build from the same code.

A training academy built, run and used every morning by its maker, so it breaks on him before it can break on anyone else. Discipline, kept in software.

React, Vite and Firebase. Accounts, a daily programme, drills, streaks, and a progress record that reads back to you plainly instead of congratulating you. I am its first user, every morning, which means I find out inside a day when something breaks. Winter Arc, a training log, runs on the same stack. The parts a coaching institute actually runs on — timed quizzes with scoring, chapter notes locked to a batch, a fee ledger, a parent login, an admin console somebody non-technical can drive — I have written all of those as well, in my own software, and I will open the code and the running screens for you. What I have not done is put them through somebody else's admissions season. I would rather you read that here than find it out on a call.

Turn-by-turn built for a helmet, not a dashboard.

A co-pilot for the rider, not the driver. Its voice is timed for a helmet and its buttons are sized for gloves, and it keeps working where the signal gives up.

An Android app for riding: spoken directions timed for a helmet speaker, a screen you can read in sun with gloves on, and fuel and service logging that does not need you to stop. Built because the maps app on a bike is a compromise nobody admits to.

Jarvis

A desk assistant that runs on my own machine and answers out loud.

A desk assistant that answers aloud and lives in the machine beneath the desk. Eight months in the making, and it owes nothing to any distant cloud. It hears its name, and it listens.

Wake word, local speech, and a set of tools it can actually reach - files, timers, the lights, the calendar. It runs on the machine under the desk rather than in somebody else’s cloud, which is the entire point of it.

A concept motorcycle, modelled and rendered end to end.

A motorcycle that exists only in light, modelled and rendered from nothing. Made to show a thing as it will look before it is forged. It has never needed fuel.

Every commission comes with the illuminated edition of The Ashes of the First Sleep to read now. If the book reaches print, a signed copy follows; if the game is finished, so does a key. Our farther-off dream is a full-scale feature film set in that world. There is no production date to promise yet.

Project prices can be tailored in the quote. The amount is a proposal for us to agree before work begins. Monthly care and social management are separate arrangements, not quietly bundled into a one-off advance.

How the money works

✦Half to start, half on delivery. Those are the only two numbers, and nothing appears between them.
✦On delivery it all transfers: source code, design files, domain, hosting, Play Console, admin logins — in your name, on your email, with passwords you set. I do not keep a key to your business.
✦Dates are what the work has actually taken, not what I am hoping for. Fourteen working days for a website is a counted figure, measured from the day the content is in my hands, not a number chosen because it sounds brisk. For anything else you get a date in writing before you pay, and if I am going to miss it you hear it from me first, not on the day itself.
✦Delays on your side — the question bank, the photographs, the results list — move the date. I will tell you in one line exactly what I am waiting for, and I will keep telling you.
✦If a job turns out to be bigger than its price, I say so before I start. Not halfway through, with your advance already spent.
✦GST as applicable. Travel inside Himachal and Punjab is included; further than that we agree the cost before the date is fixed.

Harsh Saini, of Panoh. Usually found making something, following an interesting path, or insisting it is not too early for another cup of tea. Vellum & Ash is my small studio: a place for useful work, curious stories, and ideas a little too big for the kitchen table.

The studio is where the practical work meets the rather unreasonable dream. We help a café show its warmth, a resort tell its story, an institute welcome its next students. Alongside that work, we are growing a world from the pages of The Ashes of the First Sleep toward the screen.

Panoh

A little farther from home, and back again

Panoh is a village in Himachal Pradesh: one road, hills that change their coat with the seasons, and neighbours who know whose goat has escaped again. Eighteen years of my life fitted inside about four kilometres of it. I love a second breakfast, a well-kept garden, and a story that makes the walk home feel different. A hobbit at heart, then — although the adventures have had a habit of finding me anyway.

Then I went to Canada and read physics at the University of Guelph. What stayed with me was not the mathematics. It was that measurement is not free: you cannot look at a thing without touching it, and the looking changes what is looked at. I carried that around for years and then wrote a novel in which it is not a footnote in a lab manual but the law the world runs on — a thing that is watched becomes more itself, and a thing nobody watches comes quietly apart. The book is The Ashes of the First Sleep, Book One of the Dreamshard Cycle. Twenty-two chapters, 259 pages, typeset at 5.5 by 8.5 and ready for a printer. It has a language, Vellkarn, in which you cannot name a thing without saying whether it is being observed. No publisher yet. I am looking for one.

Green hills, a village where everybody knows whose goat that is, and the nearest real collection of books most of a day away by bus. Almost every question ended the same way: ask somebody who went to the city. I did not know it at the time, but that sentence is the brief for the rest of my life.

A Bachelor of Physics, and one idea that would not leave me alone: you cannot observe a thing without changing it. Measurement is never free. It took years to work out what to do with that, and what I did was write a book where it stops being a footnote in a lab manual and becomes the law holding the world together.

Learning to listen properly

Training to work as a therapist taught me to be a scientist about people: hold the hypothesis loosely, watch what actually happens, and sit with somebody's real problem instead of the one they walked in announcing. It is the most useful thing I own. I use it on every brief before I write a line of code.

You write to me

WhatsApp, email, or the form on this page. Tell me what you do and what is actually going wrong — the enquiry nobody answered, the fee register still living in a diary, the site that will not open on a slow phone in a district town. I reply within a day, usually the same evening.

We talk for half an hour

A call. Free, no slide deck, no proposal document with a stock photograph of a handshake in it. By the end you will know what I would build, what it costs in rupees, and how long it takes. And if you do not need me — if what you need is a properly filled Google Business listing and one Sunday afternoon — I will say so, and tell you how to do it.

You sign and pay half

The agreement is right here on this page. Read it, sign it with your finger, send the advance by UPI or bank transfer. The clock starts when that clears and your content is with me, not on the day we spoke.

I build, and you watch it happen

Every Friday, a link to the real thing, working, in your browser. Not a percentage, not a progress report — the actual thing you are paying for. Open it on your own phone, on the office 4G rather than the office wifi. Send your notes as one list. Three rounds are included.

Handover

Final payment, and then all of it is yours: code, files, logins, the domain in your own name. Then a walkthrough, recorded, so that the person who joins your office next year is not frightened of it either. If the book goes to print, your copy comes by post; if the game is finished, it comes by email. And your project stays in your own client portal.
